24 Hours in Manhattan Beach: What to Eat

Manhattan Beach is one of the three Beach Cities of the South Bay, a small region of Los Angeles County. Manhattan Beach is jam-packed with restaurants, bars, and shops so there is plenty of things to do and see in this small city. Or you can visit just to hang out on the beach, Manhattan Beach is about 2 miles long and is known for its great surfing and beautiful view of the pacific. For us, one of our favorite things to do here is eating. So if we had 24 hours in Manhattan Beach these are the places we would stop to eat.

Breakfast

Start off Breakfast at local favorite Uncle Bill’s Pancake House. Open in 1961, this spot is in the corner of Highland, and 15th street serves up friendly service and big breakfast portions. They serve breakfast and lunch every day from 7 am to 3 pm. Lines can be long during peak hours and no reservations are taken. If you are dining by yourself you might get lucky and snag a seat at the counter. What to get, yes of course the pancakes are good but don’t sleep upon their waffles. If you are really hungry get the Expo ’73 an omelet with everything but the kitchen sink. By the way, it’s super kid-friendly with high chairs and a kid's menu available.

Lunch

You are by the beach you have to have some amazing seafood. Have an amazing lunch at seafood at Fishing With Dynamite. It’s a small restaurant but the menu has a ton of delicious dishes, that’s why it was named OpenTable’s 100 Best Restaurants in America three years in a row and a Michelin Plate in 2019. Their menu has old school favorites, oysters and shrimp cocktails, to new school favorites like Peruvian scallops and ceviche. Make reservations, wait time for tables can be long during peak hours. So much good food but you have to have the oysters and Peruvian scallops! They are so good.

Snack

If you want a sweet treat head over to Paradise Bowls for their delicious acai and pitaya bowls. Open in 2013 in Manhattan Beach, it’s a local favorite, with lines always out the door. This family-owned and operated shop always prepares its bowls with fresh ingredients. What to get? We always get the Gaucho an acai blend topped with granola, bananas, honey, strawberry, and blueberries

Dinner

Have dinner at Manhattan Beach Hot Spot, Esperanza Restaurant. It’s such a cool vibe, reminds us of a restaurant in Tulum or Cabo. Esperanza serves up dishes with a modern interpretation of traditional Sonoran cuisine. There is something for everyone from tacos, enchiladas, steaks, and seafood dishes. What to get? Definitely start off with the Ceviche Tres Maneras ( three different ceviches) and get the enchiladas Mariscos Suiza with shrimp and crab. To drink you can’t go wrong with any of their crafted margaritas.

Dessert

If you have room for dessert, after all that eating, make your way down to the Manhattan Beach Creamery for some ice cream. The Creamery makes their ice cream all in-house and they have 28 flavors daily. You can either have a scoop of ice cream or choose one of their Ice Cream creation like the Sticky Bun Sundae. Or you can grab an ice cream cookie made with freshly baked cookies.
