Singapore is a melting pot of Asian cuisine everything you want to try it in this country. Here are five foods to try in Singapore
1. Kaya Toast- This is a typical Singaporean breakfast but I see plenty of people eating this for a snack. Kaya Toast is two pieces of toasted sliced bread with butter and kaya jam. Kaya is a traditional jam made from eggs and coconuts. This kaya sandwich is typically served with 2 poached eggs and a dash of soy sauce. Many dip the sandwich with the poach eggs mixture for that salty, sweet taste. Where to get it? Ya Kun Kaya Toast is a cafe with locations all over Singapore.
2. Satay- Who can say no to grilled meat on a stick. Satay is the ultimate street food, easy to eat, and super cheap in Singapore. There are so many choices from seafood and chicken, beef, and even lamb. Satay is usually served with this yummy peanut sauce. So where is the best place for Satay? Satay Street of course next to the Lau Pa Sat Hawker Center. When you get there find your vendor, grab a seat and it will be delivered to you when ready! Let us know which is your favorite vendor!
chili-based
3. Chili Crab- a trip to Singapore is not complete without sampling their famous dish chili crab. What is it? It's crab stir-fried in a spicy, sweet, savory tomato sauce. Warning this gets a little messy so don't wear white. There is one place to have this dish and it's JUMBO Seafood. There are 5 locations on the island and all of them are always busy with tourists and locals wanting this chili crab. Make reservations ahead of time because lines can get long during dinner time.
4. Char Kway Teow stir fry flat noodles with meat and veggies are made in a giant wok. Char kway teow, literally "stir-fried rice cake strips" is famous street food. It is also served with a side of sambal. People have this for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even a snack. Where to get this? Any hawker center in Singapore or even the food courts in a mall has this dish and it's always made fresh
