Brunch- A must do this beach town is to have Brunch there are so many places you can’t wrong! Two popular places are George’s at the Cove in La Jolla, yummy brunch with a beautiful view of the La Jolla Cove, when you make a reservation, request a table by the window. Try out their Avocado Toast, it is stacked! Or try one an SD breakfast chain like Snooze AM Eatery which is famous for their Pancake Flight. Get on the Yelp Waitlist as soon as you can because wait times are long on the weekends.
Tacos- So close to the border, San Diego has the best tacos in Southern California. There are so many places to choose from the hardest part is where to first? What makes these tacos so good? We think it's the tortillas, they are always fresh, chewy, and delicious. Try the Old Town newcomer Tahona Bar a mezcal bar that serves up delicious carnitas tacos. Make your reservation on Open Table. Or try Border X Brewery in Barrio Logan, their tacos are made fresh on a wood grill. We had the octopus tacos and it was delicious and amazing.
Carne Asada Fries- San Diego and Carne Asada Fries go hand in hand. On one of my first trips to San Diego, we tried this and we were hooked. What is Carne Asada fries? Its Fries covered with Asada, cheese, guacamole, and salsa. Where to get this? Taco Stand in Downtown San Diego or the original location in La Jolla. Try their Maria Terra Fries (shrimp and steak fries) perfect to share. Lolita's Mexican Food a local chain in San Diego also has some tasty Carne Asada Fries, we tried the location right next to Petco Stadium.
Italian Food- Little Italy is home to so many good cafés, bars, and restaurants, you can’t go wrong. When we are in San Diego we try to eat at a new restaurant in Little Italy so we can try them all. Try Bencotto Italian Kitchen for their homemade pasta and their cheese wheel. There Tagliatelle al Nero Di Seppia (Squid Ink Pasta) is amazing. Reservations can be made on Open Table. Farmer's Table is another popular place because of its beautiful ambiance and pizzas. We loved their short rib pizza! Reservations can also be made via Open Table.
Seafood- Right by the water, San Diego has so many restaurants that specialized in seafood! San Diego has a range of restaurants from dive restaurants to fancy restaurants all servicing the best seafood. Try out Tom Ham’s Lighthouse right on the harbor for Brunch, we hope one day they'll do the all you can eat brunch again. Right now it's just ala carte. For beautiful views of the harbor, try Brigantine in Little Italy a modern restaurant that serves fresh seafood. The Tiger Shrimp and Grits were so delicious. Reservations available on Open Table however walk-ins are welcome, just be prepared to wait 30-1 hour during peak days.
