Imagine walking around a Field of Lights, like a real field of lights! A four-hour drive from Los Angeles will get you to Paso Robles for Bruno Munro Light At Sensorio. Bruno Munro is an English/Australian artist known for his beautiful, immersive, light-based installation that he creates around the world. Munro has created two light-based experiences, The Field of Lights which is a 15-acre walk-through experience with more than 58,000 lights covering the side of a hill and the second is The Light Tower that features 69 towers of more than 17,000 lite up wine bottles. This is definitely a must see in California. Here are some things to expect when visiting this magical place.
When is Sensorio Open? It’s open Thursday/Sunday from 7PM to 10PM and Friday/Saturday from 7PM to 11PM. Right now tickets are on sale now until September 26, 2021. But this is a popular exhibit the might extend the dates.
How much and what is included? There are two types of tickets, General Admission and VIP Admission. General Admission for Adults is $31.50-41 and Children is $20, depending on the day. Children ages 3 to 12 must have a ticket, children under 3 are free. When you buy your General Admission ticket you have a choice to enter the exhibit at 7pm or 8pm. The second type of ticket is the VIP Admission ticket prices are between $85-110. VIP Admission you don't have to reserve a time slot, you can walk in anytime using a special entrance. The $85 ticket includes access to the Private VIP Terrace, Private Restrooms, Private Bar, Fire Tables. It also includes 1 drink ticket (beer, wine, non-alcoholic). The $110 VIP ticket includes all of the above but also a Charcuterie/Crudité platter. All ticket sales are online however there are walk-up tickets sold on-site beginning at 8:30 pm. Logistics: Parking is included in your ticket price, but it’s a dirt road. From the parking lot, it’s a short walk uphill to the site. If you need help up the hill, you can ask for assistance. There is a security check before getting into the venue, no outside drinks and foods are allowed in the venue. However, there is food and drink available for purchase. Bathrooms are available via porta-potty in the parking lot then at the site, there are bathrooms. COVID: Masks are required if you are not vaccinated, if you are vaccinated then masks aren’t required.
What to expect & tips?
- Buy tickets online to guarantee admission, there is only a handful of tickets available at the venue and there is usually a line to get them.
- During the summer nights it's better to pick the 8pm admission time since sunset is around 830-845pm.
- If the only available ticket is 7pm, there is plenty to do, grab dessert from the food truck, churros, or ice cream or grab a drink (beer/wine) at the airstream. Also, there is a live band that plays all night you can sit on the grass and listen to them.
- Bring a jacket it gets cold once the sunsets, even in the summer months
- Walk into the exhibit right before the sunset so you can when the lights come on. There are benches around the walkabout to sit and wait till the sunsets.
- The walkabout around the Field of Lights is 0.5 miles long so bring some walking shoes.
- Don’t forget to go to the Light Tower which is at the back of the exhibit.
- One thing you can also do is if you purchase drinks, you can take them to the exhibit and walk around.
- Wheelchair rentals are available for a $10 fee but they are on a first come first serve basis.
- Photography is permitted but not flash photography is not. Professional camera, videos, drones tripods, or selfie sticks are not allowed
