Restaurant Review: Jack N Joe's

Logistics: Truly a hidden gem in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Open in 2011, it has now become a popular breakfast spot not only for USC students but for families and DTLA workers. They serve breakfast all day, Monday to Friday from 7AM- 1:30 PM and Saturday & Sunday from 8AM- 2PM. Wait times for breakfast can range from 10 minutes to an hour on busy weekends. Parking is a little tricky, there is a private lot in front of the restaurant but if that gets full, street parking a block away is available.

Ambiance: No frills, homey diner with friendly service and a family atmosphere. It’s very family-friendly high chairs and booster chairs are available. Indoor and Outdoor Dining is available. No reservations are taken, first come first serve.

Food: Jack N Joe’s services Breakfast and Brunch plenty to choose from pancakes, French toast, omelets, eggs. But what you have to get is their flapjacks or French toast… ask your server about their secret menu… we actually ordered two things off that menu!

Loaded Hash Browns with Eggs – One of favorite things here is this secret dish! It’s actually the perfect hangover food especially after one of those Thursday college nights or if you just need a big breakfast from a workout. What is in this dish? Hash browns with bacon, sausage, cheese, yummy aioli, and eggs in any style. It also comes with toast (wheat, white, sourdough). Definitely, a must-try when hungry or if you can't decide what you want for breakfast.

Breakfast Burrito- The classic burrito, large portion but I was hungry so I actually finished it. This breakfast burrito is delicious, with the perfect ratio of egg, cheese, and meat. What comes in the burrito? Eggs, hashbrown, cheese, and your choice of meat (sausage, bacon). This dish is also on the secret menu, you can order this classic or you can order the loaded breakfast burrito which is the loaded hashbrown plate in a burrito!

7 Minutes in Heave: My daughter’s favorite dish here because it has all her favorite foods Nutella and fruit. It was actually mom’s and dad’s favorite dishes too! 3 slices of Dakine French Toast topped with Nutella, bananas, strawberries, butter, and powdered sugar. You really can't go wrong with that combination...

Prices: Breakfast dishes $10-15, drinks between $2-5 dollars

Overall: Don't let the long wait time deter you from this breakfast place, service is fast and friendly, dishes are delicious with good portion size, and there is something delicious for everyone in the family!
