Weekend Fun in NYC

New York City is a place you'll definitely need more than a weekend to explore, but if you only have a weekend to enjoy here is an itinerary that you can use to make the most out of the city.

Friday

Bright and early start and then grab a quick breakfast at Best Bagel and Coffee in Midtown. Phone in your order because lines get long any day of the week. What to get is the Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich which comes with your choice of bagel (I choose an everything bagel) plain cream cheese, tomato, and red onions with smoked salmon. Address: 225 W 35th St A, New York, NY 10001

Then walk over to the most iconic building in NYC, the Empire State Building. The best time to go is between 8-11 am to avoid the crowds. Also, get your tickets online so you can just head straight to the top, FYI kids under 6 are free. Budget about an hour or two at this spot to walk through the Empire State Museum and to take pictures at the Observations Decks.

After the Empire State Building, walk over to Madison Square Park and have lunch at the original Shake Shack. You can't go wrong with anything you order, our recommendations are the Shack Shake Burger with that special sauce or my favorite the shroom burger that comes with a deep-fried, cheese-stuffed, Portobello mushroom. If you are really hungry get an order of cheese fries.

Spending the rest of your afternoon strolling around Central Park. There are so many attractions to see you can probably spend a whole day there but you have to check out Strawberry Fields’ Imagine Mosaic, the Boat House, Central Park Zoo, the fountain on the Friends Show intro, or the Bethesda Fountain where tons of movies and commercials are filmed.

After all that walking, head over to Levain Bakery for their magical cookies. Lines are always out the door but it's worth the wait, they have four cookie flavors- dark chocolate chocolate chip, dark chocolate peanut butter chip, oatmeal raisin, and chocolate chip walnut. But my favorite is the dark chocolate peanut butter chip. Address: 1484 Third Ave, NYC; 167 West 74th St, NYC

Head back to the hotel and rest before your first night in New York. Grab a quick dinner in Midtown where you can get the biggest bowls of udon in New York at Tsurutontan Udon Noodle Brasserie. What to get? Can't go wrong with any dishes here but Wagyu Deluxe Sukiyaki. Try to make it out Happy Hour at the bar which is all day Sunday thru Thursday, Friday 12pm- 6pm, Saturday 12pm-5pm Address: 64W 48th, New York, NY, 10036

Then after dinner, take in a Broadway show the popular shows like Hamilton but you’ll have to buy them weeks in advance. But if you just want to see a show, check on TKTS Discount Booths for discounted tickets. The only catch using these are same-day tickets, so you'll have to check on their app or the ticket booth to see what is available.

After the show, grab a late-night bite at the original The Halal Guys food cart (Corners of 53rd Street and Sixth Avenue). New York is the city that never sleeps, so there is always food available. Halah guys what to get? Chicken and Rice is amazing and make sure they cover it with white sauce. Oh and go easy on the hot sauce, a couple of drops will burn your tongue

Saturday

Fresh day to start exploring the lower half of Manhattan. Start off the day with a quick breakfast, bagels again lol.

Then take the subway to the Ferry to visit the Statue of Liberty. Get on the first ferry out because lines get long. You can buy tickets online and the ticket includes a roundtrip from the Statue of Liberty and then to Ellis Island. Separate tickets are available if you want to go to the observation deck in the pedestal or the crown. Get those tickets for these observation decks early, they sell out.

Take the subway up to Soho to get some delicious Italian food at Osteria Morini a casual Northern Italian spot that has won numerous awards. Make reservations to this spot it can get busy on the weekends. What to order? You can't go wrong with any of the pasta dishes here and definitely build a board of cured meats and cheese to start. Address: 218 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10012

In the afternoon visit the 9/11 Memorial and the museum located in the financial district of New York. The 911 Memorial is a place to remember and reflect on the tragic 9/11 attacks. In May of 2014, the 911 Museum was open to the public. It exhibits numerous artifacts, videos, and pictures from that day. Visit the memorial and museum are free. But tickets for the museum must be purchase ahead of time.

After a long day of exploring lower manhattan. Go back to the hotel and rest. Then grab a quick bite before exploring the NYC Nightlife. Check out a local food hall filled with amazing food. Urbanspace Food Hall has so many choices from vegan to Chinese and Mexican to Sandwiches you can't go wrong. But what you have to try is Roberta's Pizza for the Bee Sting Pizza it's the best. Address: 230 Park Ave, New York, NY 10169

Then after dinner, check out the New York Nightlife and go bar hopping around the town. First, start off the night at The Raines Law Room where their claim to fame is build your own old fashion. Make your reservations to this place, since it's small. Then head out and check out some other popular Employees Only, Bathtub Gin, and Death & Co

Sunday

What everyone does is have brunch in Manhattan. Some of the most popular spots are Clinton St. Baking Co. & Restaurant for pancakes, Russ & Daughters Cafe for Bagel and Lox, or Alice's Tea Cup for a cute tea spot.

Then after hang out the new Hudson Yard and check out The Vessel. The Vessel is one of the newest attractions in New York. This 16 story honeycomb-like structure is 150 feet high, has 154 flights of stairs and 2,500 steps for visitors to climb. The vessel is art, it’s absolutely gorgeous to see, definitely worth it. Before visitors were allowed to go into the structure but I believe they don't anymore because of safety reasons.

End your afternoon with one more sweet treat at the Magnolia Bakery for their amazing and world-famous Banana Pudding made with layers of vanilla wafers, fresh bananas, and creamy vanilla pudding. Everyone does get this banana pudding but they also offer cakes, cupcakes, brownies, and pies that are also so yummy. Adress: 401 Bleeker Street, New York
