Westside Brunch Places to Try

One of our favorite meals has to be brunch! Here in a couple of our favorite brunch places, in no particular order, south of the 405!

The Brixton SM - Neighborhood gastropub in Santa Monica with delicious food, bottomless drinks, and friendly service. Brunch is every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am-3 pm, reservations are encouraged but walk-ins are also available. The Brixton offers specialty brunch drinks and of course bottomless mimosa with a 2-hour limit on the table. Their brunch menu offers breakfast favorites but also some awesome breakfast creations like Breakfast Poutine and Cajeta French Toast. The lunch menu is also available with burgers, sandwiches, salads, and shareables. What to get? We loved the Breakfast Poutine with tater tots, tomato, bacon, smokey cheese sauce, and sunny side eggs. We also got the Short Rib Melt- braised short rib, Swiss, caramelized onions, tomato, and chimichurri, on sourdough bread. Parking is available in the lot, but it's small, and street parking is available. There is not really a kid’s meal, we asked for a side of French toast and an egg for our daughter, and they were able to do a side order for us. There is a small lot in the back for parking or you’ll have to find metered street parking. Address: 2827 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405

The Coffee Company- A family-owned neighborhood diner located close to LAX. It’s the perfect spot if you have a quick layover or if you want a good breakfast before your flight. Reservations aren’t taken at this place; you’ll have to walk in and put your name on the waitlist and they will text you when your table is ready. We got there around 9 am on a weekday and there wasn't a wait. This restaurant offers breakfast favorites like pancakes and scrambles with a southern twist like two eggs with Louisiana fried fish or their buttery shrimp and grits breakfast. The lunch menu has sandwiches, salads, and rice dishes. What to get? We got the shrimp and grits cheesy grits topped with garlic butter shrimp, bacon bits, cherry tomatoes, scallions, and 2 eggs. We also got the catfish breakfast that comes with toast or a buttermilk biscuit, potatoes, and two eggs cooked any style. Both were delicious. There is plenty of parking at this restaurant and very kid friendly with a separate kid’s menu that offers breakfast and lunch. A shared parking lot is available behind the restaurant. Address: 8751 La Tijera Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045

26 Beach Restaurant - Located on Lincoln Blvd is a busy brunch place with delicious food and super cute decor. You won't miss this place, just look for the hot pink building. Breakfast/Brunch is served Monday through Friday starting at 10 am and Saturday and Sunday at 9 am. Their menu is a combination of Japanese and American Dishes so from French toast to sushi burgers, everything is on the menu. Walk-ins are taken but reservations are strongly encouraged. What to get? We loved their Pasta Scrambles which come with pasta, eggs, cheese, and an array of different toppings. Or try one of their fusion burgers the Katsu California Roll Hamburger with crab, avocado, sushi ginger, nori, tomato, cucumber, and wasabi mayo. Street parking is the only thing available. Address: 3100 Washington Blvd, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292

King's Hawaiian Bakery & Restaurant- Have a taste of Hawaii in Torrance. King Hawaiian is a staple in the South Bay, every day lines are out of the door for their restaurant and bakery. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served every day. Their breakfast menu has all your Hawaiian favorites like Portuguese sausage, fried rice, and Hawaiian French toast. What to get? Big Island Breakfast that comes with King’s Hawaiian French Toast, two eggs, and a choice of meat (spam, sausage, Portuguese sausage). Or you have to try the Hawaiian Breakfast Burrito with scrambled eggs, fried rice, Portuguese sausage, and cheese. This place is kid-friendly, with high chairs, booster, and a kids menu available. Breakfast/Brunch items are served all day, they are open 7am to 9pm everyday. Reservations are encouraged but walk-ins are accepted. Also, save room for dessert they have some amazing baked goodies and desserts on sale. Parking is available behind the restaurant in a private lot. Address 2808 Sepulveda Blvd, Torrance, CA 90505

Ocean Diner - Close by Hermosa Beach is a small diner that has been serving the south bay for more than 20 years. It’s such a cute place, it makes you feel like you are back in the 1940s with old posters, appliances, and memorable. They serve breakfast and lunch any time of the day. Their menu is filled with omelets, egg skillets, and some delicious sandwiches. Their baked goodies are actually also made in-house and delicious! What to get? You can’t go wrong with any of the skillets. There are also high chairs and a kids' menu available, our daughter’s favorite has to be the pancakes. They serve breakfast/brunch everyday from 7am to 2pm. Reservations are not taken, walk-in only. Parking can be a little tough, they have a small lot in the back of the restaurant, or street parking is available. Address: 959 Aviation Blvd, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
